We all know companies that change their name.  I would venture to say most of the time it’s probably to avoid negative press or something along those lines (i.e. Ameriprise).  That’s what makes Catie Foertsch even more special.  I think it’s great when you see businesses evolving for their customers.  Catie took a business she knows and loves, making and editing videos, and she expanded on it.  She did this for her customers.  She listened and learned from the people she was working with that what they needed the most was not necessarily the video itself but rather how to use the video most effectively.  Now I can never tell you about what she does as well as Catie can but what I can tell you is if you have any questions about videos, video marketing or the use of videos in social media, Catie and Yes! I had to post on this blog post because it rings so true.  It is not enough just to build a network around you in order to be successful but you must learn how to use it.  There are some great points in this blog that really set the stage to make you more comfortable asking.  The most successful people you know do this and excel at it.  Ask them how.  Read the first part of the blog.  People will help.

If you are looking to network online you should meet Nancy Parker.  Nancy has a group that she organizes and runs.  She is constantly looking to help people through this group.  I sat down with Nancy the other day and it was time well spent.  We had one of those conversations that flows naturally with idea bouncing of of each other; be for you know it you look up and an hour and a half has gone by and you’ve got to go.  I look forward to meeting with Nancy again.

Do you network?  Maybe you aren’t the best people person.  Or maybe you’ve had an experience where you went to a networking event and were the odd man/woman out.  It might have been because you’re a bit shy or maybe it was a group of people that knew each other and talked amongst themselves. 

A new way to network: BlitzTime.com.  I signed up for the Big Boston Blitz last night and had 21 5:30 min conversations with different people.  Now truth be told some of these people I might never talk to again but today I will follow up with them all.  I spent 2 hours on the phone which was a long time.  What would 2 hours be worth for your business?  One, two, three clients or centers of influence?

So that is what I am doing this morning, following up with people I met last night.  I need to see if anyone wants to be a client.  If I met you last night and you are reading this, feel free to raise your hand.
