A True Advocate

by Evolution Of Wealth on September 8, 2009

I’m sure that you believe as I do, that we have some responsibility to those who depend on us: our spouses, children and employees.  If nothing else, I feel that we are responsible to make conscious, deliberate decisions about their future, rather than leaving it to chance or good luck.

Most people make these decisions passively.  They neglect to think about them.  Not because they don’t care about their children or employees, but because they, just like every healthy, well adjusted person, believe that they will live long and healthy lives and because of that they have plenty of time to deal with the issues of protecting them.  Practically nobody addresses their insurance needs unless some form of financial professional compels them to think about them.

Children and others that might depend on you have no voice in your decisions about insurance even though those decisions can have an enormous impact on their lives.  I speak for them.  I am their advocate.  I feel I have a moral obligation to get everyone with dependents to face up to the questions that nobody wants to think about: “what if I wasn’t here to take care of them, how would they survive?”

It is up to you to answer those questions and to decide what you want to do about them.  Of course, you will get all the support you need from me, so that you can be sure the you made responsible decisions, decisions that you can feel good about.

I used to think of meeting with people as an opportunity.  Now I think of it as a responsibility.  I know that without me, or someone like me, people won’t address the problem of protecting those who depend on them.  I speak for the wife and the child, the business partner or the employees who cannot speak for themselves.
